Seems like the folks who know more about these things than me are saying we’re done with this recession. Yippee I say, “Good Riddance!” But let’s not move on so quickly.
There are lessons to be learned. Seems like many companies did one of two things to survive:
- anything they could to turn a buck, or
- looked inward at their business and jettisoned anything and everything that wasn't a core part of their success strategy.
Recessions are good that way. They make us focus on what's really important and show up the distractions for what they are - wasted time and money. If you aren't coming out of this with a stronger sense of what your core strengths are, then you've missed a golden opportunity. The good news (or bad depending upon how you look at it) is that there's still time. So take stock and make sure your plans for next year are built around the strengths that got you through this past one.
